Choose Happiness First, Always

I’m Zahra, a motivational speaker, mental health advocate and domestic abuse support worker dedicated to empowering women to become the best version of themselves! Us women are full of potential yet at times we do not see it and therefore it is up to us to support and believe in one another. There is no limit to what we as women can accomplish!

There is no right time to do anything.
Whatever it is you want to do or achieve, you have to take a leap of faith and just do it. If you wait for the right time or the perfect moment, you will be waiting forever as it may not ever happen. Therefore, follow your heart and good things will happen.

You are not alone.
No matter what you go through in life and the difficulties you are faced with, you don’t ever have to go through it alone. The best way to overcome challenging situations and heal from negative experiences is to face them and be open about them. Confide in your friends, family or even seek professional help and be open and honest about how you are feeling. People care about you and will always be there to help, support and protect you. Even if they cannot give you a solution in fixing the problem, the love and support you receive will definitely empower you and help you through it. Remember, the strongest women are those who love themselves and are not scared to have a voice. A strong woman is true to herself and builds her own world by following her heart and her passion.

Allow yourself to experience pain in order to become stronger.
Growing up I always felt I had to always stay strong, positive and not let anything bring me down as I never wanted to be perceived as a weak person. Now in my late 20’s, I feel like it is impossible to just ride through life. The hardships and challenges we are faced with cause a lot of pain, hurt and upset leading to people suffering in terms of there mental health. The advice I give to everyone is that we will always have to face difficulties, but it is how you overcome these challenges that define your direction in life and define you as a person. Allow yourself to experience the pain in order to become stronger and heal through the process. These dark moments in our lives are just a temporary feeling and do not last forever, and it is these experiences that make you a better and happier person in the long run.

It is okay to ask for help.
Life is full of hardships, difficulties and challenges, but don’t ever give up. You may be the strongest and most confident woman, however, when something is going to break you it will break you. It is up to you as a person to face the problems and not let the difficulties override your happiness. These experiences only make you grow as a person and the lessons you learn means you can support other women who are going through the exact same thing.

Enjoy your life and live.
Find inner peace and happiness. Enjoy your freedom and chase those dreams. You only get one shot at life, so make it worthwhile so when you look back you can say you followed your dreams and chased your happiness, without a fear of being judged or not liked.

Be resilient.
No matter what life throws at me, I always come out on top! I have been told by many I have a very special and unique personality. I have never felt the need to compare myself to anyone else and I am enjoying being on my own little journey. I now know I am exactly where I am meant to be and do not let society’s expectations ever become a hurdle for me. I have specific goals I want to achieve before I turn 30 and will not stop until I have reached them. No matter how hard I fall, I will always be positive about the future.

Keep going without giving up.
I am truly blessed to have such supportive friends and family who have always believed in me and my vision, who have never given me a reason to doubt myself and have always pushed me to follow my passion. Even if I get stressed and discouraged I always bounce back up as people genuinely believe in me and I know I need to keep going without giving up.

Self-belief is important.
Growing up I have always been a very confident person and knew I would do something meaningful with my life. Overall, I do believe in myself and have faith that I will reach my goals. I try not to let my setbacks affect my vision or stop me from achieving what I believe in. You need to be kind to yourself and believe nothing or nobody can stop you from striving or becoming successful.

If I could go back…
I would not allow people who were toxic for me to remain in my life for as long as I let them. And certainly would not have given them as many chances as I did. Once they were removed from my life, my whole world seemed different and somehow everything just seemed better and more positive again. The older you get and the more you experience life, you start valuing what is important and only allow people who are good for your soul to remain in your life. Choose happiness first, always.

Leave a legacy behind.
I want to leave a legacy behind and want people to remember me as something more than just a pretty face. I want to have a positive influence on people’s lives and truly make a difference by inspiring others. I want people to have confidence in me and understand the message I am giving them. I have a very rewarding job where we help support women on a daily basis, empowering them to live free from domestic abuse and mental health. I want to be remembered for helping others find happiness, despite being in dark and empty places.
