What Message Do You Think Every Woman Should Hear?

Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hello! My name is Vicky and I’m a blogger, coach and retreat host helping busy entrepreneurs find healthier ways to eat and live. 
I’m the writer behind the blog The Flourishing Pantry which is my hub for everything healthy entrepreneur. I share recipes, discoveries, tips and interviews to inspire and help people running their own businesses stay healthy in body and mind while they build their brands. 
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Oh wow that’s a big one. I feel like I’m constantly getting great advice lately. So many things really stick with me since starting my own business because I’m so aware of my own strengths and weaknesses when it’s just me on the journey with no colleagues to hide behind. 
Probably the best piece of advice I’ve been given is to stop worrying what other people think of me. That doesn’t mean I always find it easy, but it is good advice. I love The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz; one of his agreements is exactly this:
Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
What you have to say is important. Your voice is just as valid as everyone else. 
The women I speak to about setting up businesses or going it alone are often paralysed by fear that what they want to put out into the world won’t be good enough or will be shouted down by someone else. It’s so important we lift each other up and encourage one another to get out there and add value in the world. 

What do you love most about yourself?
My constant drive to be productive. My boyfriend doesn’t understand me at all – he’ll happily sit in front of the TV for hours but I get twitchy! I’m always looking for ways to learn new things, add skills, create content and get better. It does mean I’m not great at switching off sometimes… but I’m alright with that while I’m doing what I love.
What motivates you most?
A future where I can work on my own terms. Where I can provide for my family, be flexible to enjoy travel and time with loved ones and do work where I can have a true impact. 
I once did a leadership course where we looked at our primary motivators and mine came out as ‘recognition’ and ‘power.’ They sound quite self-centred but I think for me it’s about making a difference, having influence and to be recognised for what I’m doing. If I’m finding ways to do that every day then I feel fulfilled. 

What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
On a daily basis I try to mediate and keep a journal to grow and stay in touch with how I’m feeling and how I want to move forward. 
I’ve recently been through a period of doing a lot of self-development. I love Future Learn courses which are free and provided by some amazing universities and course leaders on great topics for me like nutrition, meditation and psychology. I’m also about to start training to be a coach. 
I love learning but sometimes I think becoming too obsessed with courses and study can just be an excuse for not getting out there and doing the work and putting yourself front and centre. I made a half-year commitment to myself at the end of June – no more courses! I need to believe that what I am right now is enough already and see what impact I can have without needing to learn more. 
What is something on your bucket list?
I’ve never really written a bucket list… I’ve been very lucky to do many amazing things in my life already. I did a lot of international travel in my past career which enabled me to see a lot of amazing places, I’ve run two marathons, changed career and lived in another country! I think if you want to do something, start putting into place a plan to get there – don’t just leave it on a list as a wish. 
If I had to pick something it would be travelling around India as it’s a country I love but haven’t explored properly. One day. 
What are your biggest passions?
My friends and family, meaningful conversations, learning, reading and the power of the written word. And health – looking after my own as well as spreading as much good information as I can about how to improve it.
