Introduce yourself! Who are you?
My name is Landon Funk, and I am the founder and Editor in Chief of Funky Feminist, a feminist blog, vlog, and shop that aims to empower women and girls to push the limits, fight for what they believe in, and be unapologetically themselves. I graduated from Princeton University in 2015 with a degree in English and African American Studies and also was captain of their varsity golf team. Currently, I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my dog, Louis.
Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Of course. Everyone has someone who doubts them. It stings at first - whether or not you let that sting overcome you, that is the question. I love it when people doubt me because it gives me a chance to prove them wrong. Doubt from others only encourages me to keep fighting and to push harder for the positions I am passionate about.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
If you wait until you are no longer afraid, it will be too late. Half the fun is facing your fears and standing your ground. It is how we develop as women, people, activists.
What do you love most about yourself?
My fight, gumption, persistence.
What motivates you most?
The hate I receive from trolls, anti-feminists, and misogynists and my interactions with my followers who say that my work resonates with them.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I read a piece of feminist theory, fiction, or nonfiction everyday to gain a better understanding of what I am promoting. I also post on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media sites daily. A lot of my followers will interact with me and give me feedback on what they want to see more of. On a more personal level, I practice yoga everyday and take baths as a guilty pleasure.
