Introduce yourself! Who are you?
I’m Dr. Zoe Shaw, a licensed psychotherapist, life coach, radio show host, wife, mother of 5 and speaker. My passion is helping sometimes overwhelmed and stressed women find their super power, embrace it and share it with the world.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
I’m terrified of public speaking, but I force myself to do it regularly.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.
What would you say to 16 year old you?
Trust that you are enough. Don’t allow anyone else to determine your destiny. Don’t rush. There is time. Know that you are awesome and good enough and believe in yourself enough to let your light shine.
What’s your dream job?
I’m doing it!
Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Yes, plenty of people. Other people doubting me is the best gift. It is the fuel I need to prove them wrong.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
You have a unique gift. There is no other “you” on the planet. Don’t be afraid of it.
What do you love most about yourself?
My strength, perseverance and intellect.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
Yes, overcoming being a teen mom and placing my daughter for adoption and learning how to have a new normal after my 2nd daughter was born with a genetic disorder.
What motivates you most?
My goals motivate me, my belief that I have something to offer the world motivates me and my belief that if someone else can do it, so can I, motivates me.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
My amazing children.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I read everyday and try to learn something new.
If you weren’t blogging, what would you be doing?
Speaking and helping others - writing my book.
What is something on your bucket list?
Visit New Zealand, host my own tv show and finish my book.
What are your biggest passions?
Helping other women discover or re-discover their passions and gifts.
What are some of the most challenging aspects of podcasting?
Ambient noise and the editing process.
What is your favorite moment from your podcast so far?
Interviewing Actress Kim Coles and hearing her journey.
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I have been an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember, but it took me a while to identify as one. I like to have control over my destiny and build something for me and my family rather than build someone else’s dream, so even though it might be easier, I choose not to work for someone else.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I remind myself of my “why”. I read stories of others who have struggled and succeeded.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Give people what they want and not only what you want to give them- and don’t give up!
How many days do you work per week?
I’m an entrepreneur, I am always working in some capacity, but I schedule 5 days a week.
What is something you struggle with?
Staying focused on one idea and dealing with technology.
How do you achieve work-life balance?
It doesn’t truly exist in a day to day sense. I write down my priorities and continually question any of my actions to make sure they are honoring my priorities. I have learned to not be ashamed or afraid to say no.
What is your greatest fear?
Failing my children.
