Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hey there! My name is Debbie Arcangeles. I am an island born, city raised girl who tries to live my adventure as much as I can. I love getting out of my comfort zone and am always in pursuit of happiness for myself and others. I am the podcast host of The Offbeat Life where I interview inspiring  peeps who ditched the norm to to live their best life and become location independent as well as an ABA therapist working with children diagnosed with autism. When I am not working, you can find me traveling and hiking around the world.
Who would you say is your #1 inspiration?
My family. I’ve seen them rise above poverty from one of the poorest countries in the world, work 2-3 jobs to provide financial support to their children even when they lived without or with very little. Through it all they never complained and always provided us with the support and love we needed.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Having spoken to a few incredible individuals on my podcast, I’ve gotten a lot of them. I’ll narrow it down to a few:
1.The difference between the people who make it, to the people who don't make it -  is just persistence.
2.Re-evaluate your thinking of what failure is. Think of Failure as a stepping stone to success.
3.Don't overwhelm yourself. Just do one thing everyday towards your dreams. You would be surprised what you could accomplish in a year.

What message do you think every woman should hear?
Don’t compare yourself to others. You can never be the better version of them, you can only be the better version of you.
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
The perks of living in New York city is that I can go out any time of the day and get every type of food imaginable. It truly is the city that never sleeps.
What do you love most about yourself?
My fierce determination, my willingness to try anything once, my dedication to helping others and my loyalty to the people I love.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
My main goal everyday is to do at least 1 thing that will get me closer to my goals, that way I do not feel overwhelmed and become discouraged.
What is one thing people would be surprised to hear about you?
I was a freelance photojournalist. I traveled to Central America, Middle East and Asia, photographing remote areas and indigenous people.
What have you learned about people all over the world?
Fundamentally, we are all the same. We are all human beings with the same basic needs: to eat, sleep, provide for ourselves and our love ones and to be loved and appreciated. So, no matter what our differences are, our similarities are so much more.
Have you noticed any big changes in your travel since you first began?
When I first started to travel, the main thing that I wanted to do was “see as many new places as possible”. Checking off the bucket list of places so that I can add another notch on my belt of travel. As I’ve traveled more, my main focus has shifted to staying at a location for a longer period of time. I want to learn a bit of the language, discover hidden gems, get out of my comfort zone and if I am really lucky, make incredible friendships a long the way.
