You Can And You Will
with Patty Artiga
Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Howdy, I am Patty from PattyTellsAll! I am a mother, I work full time, I go to school part time (9 credit hours) I am a new blogger and a freelance photographer. I am a proud Latina who loves to embrace my Hispanic culture. I work really hard because as a young mom, things don’t come quite easy and things are not just handed over. I had to grow up pretty quickly and learn to be a mother while still enjoying my life and not letting my flaws define me.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
I am SHY!! When you see me at events and out and about you would probably never guess that I am quite shy, but I am. I have to give myself many pep talks before going to events especially if I have no clue if I will know anyone there. Blogging has definitely helped me come out of my shell but I still have my moments.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“You do not need to please everyone” I am a people pleaser and I had to learn that you cannot please everyone. You have to give and take and not let little things get to you. You are not going to be everyones favorite and not everyone is going to like you and that is completely OKAY!
What message do you think every woman should hear?
“You are beautiful, you are smart, you can and you will” Many times people will think a woman cannot do something because she isn’t strong enough, or she is “too emotional” As a woman I truly believe we can do anything we set our heart to do. We are strong individuals that should not be overlooked.
Why do you love to travel?
I love to travel because I love to see and learn how other people around the world live. Learning about other people cultures is so important. I love Houston / Texas but there is so much beauty in the world that it is nice to explore it all.
What motivates you most?
My son motivates me the most. Everything I do for the future is for us. I go to school to better our future, I work hard for our future. I want him to know when he gets older that I worked very hard to provide for him and to give him a wonderful, successful future. I mentioned this a couple of times but being a young mom you sometimes get looked down on, I don’t ever want the excuse of “ oh, it’s because I was young” I can do anything that I set my heart to and I am determined to give Elijah the best life!
How do you manage your work-life balance?
This is a tough one. With being a mom, student, full time worker, and then I have my blog and photography, 24 hours in a day is not enough. I have to really plan everything out. Plan my events around my school and my son’s schedule. One thing I have had difficulty with is saying no, but I have had to learn that I cannot go to EVERY event. Some things really do need to give. Prioritizing family, and school is # 1 right now. I have a planner were I list all of my plans and events and that is probably what keeps me sane these days. Be organized!
