Every woman should know they carry power. They should cherish their individual gifts. They should embrace their beauty and not compare themselves with others. They should stick to their vision and achieve their goals. They should speak their truths and build people up. They should nurture others and practice self-love. Most of all, they should never feel guilty about refreshing themselves mentally, spiritually, and physically.
The biggest lesson I learned throughout my journey is to have a strong sense of self and to not look for external validation. I learned to depend on my intrinsic values to steer me through my life. It’s always been that way.
I knew by the time I was 10 that I wanted to be a journalist. I was always writing short stories and had a flair for public speaking in school. I went to school for Film and Communications but ended up happily teaching for 10 years. Then, taking a leap of faith, I left teaching to start my talk show.
When I made a leap of faith to leave a secure position as a college instructor, I never looked back. I knew that I had to take a risk or that the vision would not come to pass. I had to move forward without fear. I had to be bold. It eventually paid off. Years of hard work and determination, I have won multiple awards for creating the Nikki Clarke Show which has the premise to transform lives, one story at a time. I want to be remembered as woman of substance who cared about people to empower them to make a difference in the world with whatever gift they had to make that happen.
I am so grateful I took a chance.
