Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hi, I’m Nadia (aka gyspsyjournals on instagram).
I’m a traveler, creative & business owner.
I love yoga, eating healthy, being outdoors and caught the wanderlust bug at a young age.
Just after graduating high school, I moved to work/live at Disney world Resort in Orlando Florida. Following that year I moved to Monaco, Monte Carlo for another while living/working abroad.
I am now based in my hometown Vancouver, BC and continue to travel frequently.
I married my soul mate/musician Colin, and together we started an entertainment management company. I have always dreamt of owning my own business, wasn’t too sure exactly what it would be but it somehow all fell into place!
Being a business owner/music manager it brings us on the road a lot for shows and tours.
Being able to run our business from the road gives us the opportunity to travel often.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Hmm this is tricky as I have a few that come straight to mind.
‘Staying Authentic and Genuine’ is a favourite especially when running a business, this is very important.
Also, my favourite quote is ‘If you can dream it, You can do it’ - Walt Disney, which happens to be a place I worked at for a year when I was 19!
What would you say to 16 year old you?
Don’t rush to grow up, you’ll get there quicker then you know. Enjoy your youth as ‘you’ll never be as young as you are right now’ (which happens to be the name of my husbands 2nd album).
What is your greatest fear?
Dying. I want to live forever.. don’t we?
What message do you think every woman should hear?
You can do anything you put your mind to! Don’t let anyone else or your subconscious tell you otherwise.
I feel women are being way more acknowledged and supported in the workplace these days. The opportunities are truly endless. Find a community that supports and fosters your dreams and go after it! You can do it!
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
I live in North Vancouver, BC. I am surrounded by the ocean, mountains and tons of amazing trails.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
Yes, about 4 years ago now I had a snowboarding accident that changed my life.
I got a bad concussion that affected everything (my work, lifestyle, even friendships) life seemed as though it was all put on pause, as I was battling the effects of the crash.
After 3 months of hardly leaving my home, trying to heal and had countless doctor visits, I knew I needed to start figuring something out to get my life (somewhat) back to normal, or at least a new normal that I was ready to accept.
I started researching and reading more about yoga, health and wellness and reached out to people within my community (family, friends, yoga teachers, naturalpaths) anyone that I thought could help me in some way. I found such an amazing support group that introduced me to try new things that could help my head injury.
Yoga & meditation and the teachers I met through that (in particularly Tina Pashamuti James- yoga guru) was a huge factor in my healing process.
My family has also always been so supportive and staying positive, that was a huge help throughout the recovery as well.
What is the biggest thing you’ve learned along the way?
It’s important to have goals and a ‘plan’ in place, but, it’s even more important to have a ‘flexible plan’. (As I like to nickname it, a ‘flexiplan’).
Don’t get upset if your first plan didn’t work out, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
Stay true to yourself and what you believe in, be open to new opportunities and always stay positive. What’s meant to happen, will happen.
Why do you love to travel?/ What motivates you most?
I put these questions together because for me they go hand in hand. Travel and New Experiences is my biggest motivation.
Travelling is so much more to me then the destination. It’s meeting new people of all walks of life, discovering and learning about new culture, how people live their every day lives, the relationships you create along the way, the challenges you go through that make you stronger and the memories you make that last a lifetime.
How do you manage your work-life balance?
Running a business, leading a team, working on my passion projects, enjoying my personal life including quality time with family and friends, I have to say, I’m still trying to figure this out.
I’m a ‘YES’ person and one of those people who crams everything into my days/hours. If one meeting ends at 8pm, well that gives me time to schedule another one at 8:15pm and so on.
I know this is not the healthiest lifestyle, so my new work/life goal is to schedule some ‘down’ time in between my days with things that I enjoy and help my mind/body relax.
Yoga, being outdoors, quality time with my husband and family & friends, is a good place to start.
& I don’t go anywhere without my day planner, good ol’ paper & pen helps me stay organized!
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I love self-development and I believe learning never ends. I listen to podcasts, read inspiring books and create goals on a daily basis.
I’m also really loving my new workbook journal that has a mix of goal setting, planning, grateful’s and inspiration all in one.
What is something on your bucket list?
To write a (coffee table) book on my travels sharing cultures, stories & experiences from all around the world.
What are your biggest passions?
Travel & Adventure.
Connecting & Meeting new People.

She often runs her business remotely and enjoys working nomadically while globetrotting with her husband/biz partner.
