Make Time For Yourself

with Kimberley Bueno-Schonig

Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hi there! My name is Kimberley Bueno-Schonig and I am a serial entrepreneur and a lifestyle blogger! I am founder of @thecuddlycottage, @weofhudsoncounty, and @cuddlyboutique

What do you love most about yourself?
I love that I don’t seem to be fearful about big changes in my life. Moving from California to NYC and starting a business are big life decisions that I at the time didn’t think would be so big… but here we are…

Were you scared to start the process?
I was definitely nervous but I wouldn’t say scared. I think I was more nervous about messing up and not doing enough research.

Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Yes! I’ve had people tell me to my face that they didn’t think I would be able to survive the City and run my own business. There will be people that will try to tear you or your business down [whether it’s due to jealousy, etc] and my main advice is to ignore and not respond. I heavily believe in Karma and so long as you are putting good into the world, it will be returned.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned along the way?
Running your own business is actually very, very difficult. You’re faced with new challenges every day and you are often required to think in high stress situations. Being able to be flexible and adaptable to changing environments is important, and being able to make time for yourself is absolutely critical.

What motivates you most?
Knowing that the work I do makes a difference in people’s lives is what motivates me the absolute most.

It seems like you’re pretty confident. Have you always had confidence in yourself?
I think for the most part, I appear to be confident in myself and the things I want to accomplish, but I have always struggled with confidence. It’s important to remember that being confident is a daily process and a journey.

What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I am constantly reflecting on who I am, the impact I have around others, and the actions I take on a daily basis. I am always eager to be a better person in the world and I try to reflect daily so I am hyper-aware of what I do.

Do you have a mentor? If so, what did they teach you?
Yes! I have a coach, Jen Morilla of Social Girl Traveler. She helps me with anything and everything. One of the most essential things she helps me with is removing mental blocks and coming up with different strategies for business growth! It’s been an incredible experience!

What message do you think every woman should hear?
Surround yourself with people that truly, honestly, and genuinely believe in you and your aspirations. It’s very easy to be mean to yourself; there’s no need to also be surrounded by people that don’t believe in you.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My dad once told me that if someone throws a rock at you, throw bread back. That has stuck with me ever since.

What would you say to 16 year old you?
The emotions you feel are valid. I am so sorry that you feel so sad, but things will get better. Follow your gut/intuition because it won’t lead you astray.
