What Message Do You Think Every Woman Should Hear?
With Brittany Shue
Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hi! I am Brittany-wife & mom to two little ones. My oldest son is 4, his name is Kellan Warner. My daughter is 2 and her name is Marley James. I started my blog and social sites a little over a year ago to share my motherhood and weight loss journey and hopefully connect with other moms. After having my second daughter I really started to want something that made me happy, outside of being a mom. I started focusing on my health and the benefits were both mental and physical. I lost a total of 60lbs and my goal was to turn 30 at my healthiest I had ever been (that was this past March). I love sharing exciting tips with my audience from all things fitness, health and food. From there I have branched out to also sharing about motherhood, beauty and occasionally fashion.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
I am typically very shy and very private. I still struggle with being comfortable doing videos but I love challenging myself in new ways.
What would you say to 16 year old you?
That it’s ok to be yourself and not like everyone else. I would say, take more chances in education and sports instead of worrying about social things such as parties or boys.
What is your greatest fear?
SNAKES! I have a terrible phobia that stemmed from a childhood trauma haha. I have even seen a hypnotherapist because it greatly affects my everyday life!
Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Yes. Shortly after college my husband and I made a big move across the country to a new home. We had those that said we wouldn’t do it but we were very happy that we made it work and made those memories together.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
That they are worth it. Every woman should be able to commit time to herself each day without being made to feel guilty. I didn’t realize how much my anxiety consumed me until I started making myself a priority. This is always tough for moms because we want to put everyone else first.
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
The season change. We always get to experience a beautiful fall, a pretty first snowfall, and flowers in bloom in the spring and a warm summer. I also love living near our families and we are close to our favorite sports teams (my husband and I are HUGE sports fans!)
What do you love most about yourself?
I have a very strong drive to succeed in everything I do. I did not know this about myself until I became a mom. I wanted to be the best mother possible from the moment we started trying to have a baby. Since then I have learned that when I set my mind to certain things in my life, there is nothing I won’t do to succeed at it.
Why do you love to travel?
I love to introduce my children to new places and people. I also love to have alone time with my husband so we try to balance trips with the kids as well as parent only trips.
What motivates you most?
Just living a successful life and never having to worry about anything. I want to prove to my children that with hard work they can accomplish anything they set their mind to. My husband and I have gone through so much to get to the place we are at in our lives and I wouldn’t change the hard days or the struggles for anything.
How do you manage your work-life balance?
I am very good at multi-tasking and prioritizing. I can simultaneously be on my phone doing one thing while also on my computer sending out emails. I do make an effort to only be working from the hours of 8AM-5PM. Sometimes this does involve early mornings before my kids wake up or later nights after they go to bed to get everything done.
What is your favorite meal?
I am obsessed with Peanut Butter over night oats, I eat it every single morning! My favorite recipe is the Tone It Up version which I have shared on my blog!
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
Workout. This is something I need in my life and I am lucky that I have a spouse that recognizes I need this time. I use this time to completely zone out and not think or worry about anything. It is so refreshing and I feel a lot less stress once I have been active.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you be doing?
I work in Insurance currently so I would say probably something in a more creative field. I love the concept of marketing and trying to find a unique and creative way to sell a product. I never thought I would want to be in the marketing field but I do think about it often now!
What is something on your bucket list?
My husband and I would love to travel to Italy soon! It is definitely on the 5 year plan for us. We will celebrate our 10 year anniversary in 2022 so maybe then!
Where do you find inspiration?
Pinterest, motherhood, fellow bloggers, you name it! I draw a lot of inspiration from all areas of my life.
What are your biggest passions?
Traveling, working out, learning new things, encouraging and supporting other moms, my family, trying new things, & seeing the world through children’s eyes on a daily basis!
