Find Your Voice

Amber Wright

Introduce yourself! Who are you?
My name is Amber L. Wright and I’m a communication expert and coach who helps women find their voice during moments that matter.

Did you always know what you wanted to do as a career?
For the most part, yes! I’ve spent all of my adult life learning, studying, and teaching the art of effective communication. I didn’t always know that I’d be an entrepreneur, however, but I’ve embraced the journey since I started my first business back in 2007.

Were you scared to start the process?
I wasn’t scared to start the process because I did it while working other jobs, which allowed me to take my time and figure things out with the security of a steady paycheck.

What is one thing no one really knows about you?
One thing no one really knows about me is that even though I’m an extrovert, I still really value solitude. I think that’s a misconception people have in general about extroverts. We talk a lot, but some of us can also find joy in being quiet!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
To never have misaligned loyalties to a job. When it comes to my professional career, my number one loyalty is to myself.

What would you say to 16 year old you?
I’d tell my 16-year-old self that going to college will change your life for the better, so keep working hard to get there, just as you’re planning to do.

Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
I definitely have, and it made me feel disappointed at first. But then I decided to use that disappointment as fuel and motivation to accomplish my goals. I wanted to not only prove to them, but to myself, what I was capable of. And it worked!

What message do you think every woman should hear?
Every woman deserves to know what she is enough, just as she is.

Have you always had confidence in yourself?
Not always, but I’ve cultivated it over the years. You can’t be an entrepreneur without having confidence in your abilities, product, or service. In my case, I have to demonstrate what confidence looks like before I can teach or coach anyone else on how to find it within themselves.

What do you love most about yourself?
I love my fun personality, giving heart, and concern for others.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned along the way?
I’ve learned that there is no race and no rules. You can do whatever you want and it’s only your opinion that matters most in life!

What motivates you most?
Being a role model for my two daughters and becoming the kind of woman they’ll be proud of and inspired by.

How do you manage your work-life balance?
I don’t believe in balance. The pursuit of balance only becomes another source of stress, because there’s no way I can give 100% to every role in my life at the same time. Instead, I like to focus on priorities. I ask myself, “Who or what needs my attention the most TODAY?” and start from there.

What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I move through each day with quiet prayers of thanks and gratitude.
