What Message Do You Think Every Woman Should Hear ?
With Aliza Licht
Introduce yourself! Who are you?
I’m a mother, wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, and dog mom. I’m also the author of LEAVE YOUR MARK and a marketing executive in the fashion industry.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
I’m really handy. I can fix or build almost anything!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My Grandma Hilda always said, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.” Words to live by… aka surround yourself with great people!
What would you say to 16 year old you?
Don’t major in Neurobiology & Physiology
What is your greatest fear?
Turning this around—my greatest goal is that my kids succeed. My greatest fear would be that they don’t.
Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Of course! It motivated me to prove them wrong
What message do you think every woman should hear?
You are enough, you know enough, and you can do this. As women (myself included), we always tend to doubt our capabilities whereas men who know half as much think they are totally qualified for anything!
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
I live in New York City, we have everything and everyone. The energy and pace is contagious, but so are the germs in the subway—so Purell!
What do you love most about yourself?
My direct nature. I say it like it is and I am not afraid of anyone.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
I stuttered as a child. I worked incredibly hard for many years to overcome that. To ultimately become a public speaker and even do a TEDx talk is really something I never dreamed I could do.
What is the biggest thing you’ve learned along the way?
Your reputation is your greatest asset.
What motivates you most?
I never feel finished.
How do you manage your work-life balance?
Focus on work during the day and family the minute I get home!! Then turn back onto work once the kids are asleep.
What is your favorite meal?
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I just focus on the day ahead and try to accomplish immediate goals. I don’t believe in 5-year plans. I believe in tackling what’s in front of me and then setting a new goal. Repeat over and over until you reach success!
What is one thing people would be surprised to hear about you?
That I color my own hair.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you be doing?
I would have probably stayed on the magazine side of the business where I started and would probably be looking for a new job right now!
