Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hi there! My name is Aidee and I am a social media manager who owns her own company; Be Mas Social. I get to create content for some of the most impressive companies in the country.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
Everybody knows I work really hard, and I am a goof ball but I blame my success on my diligence, and privilege.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
You can have the life of your dreams.
What would you say to 16 year old you?
“You are enough, having more things is not going to make you happy, money is not going to make you happy, doing life on your own terms will. To love my parents all the time for who they are because they are truly doing their best and to STOP being so boy crazy! ”
What is your greatest fear?
To never meet my greatest potential.
Have you ever had anyone doubt you? How did that make you feel?
Yes, of course. It’s hard. I am a very sensitive person so it does hurt my feelings but I am also very good at understanding that it is not personal. The worst moment of somebody doubting me was when I was trying to get into college. The school advisor told me that I was never going to be able to get in because my parents didn’t make enough money for that school, it was humiliating. She did it in front of a lot of students. But I got in and graduated.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
In business, “you are your own hero,” nobody is going to speak better about yourself than yourself. When you show up in the room talk about what you are good at and don’t sell yourself short. Also, surround yourself with kind people. Rome was not built in a day and it was not built alone!….you are going to need a team of good people to get to where you want to get. When somebody betrays you get them out of your circle, it may sound harsh but life is short and you are not mother Theresa. And open the door for others – literally and metaphorically.
In relationships, if he did it to her, he is probably going to do it to you, just be prepared for it. Watch his relationship with his mother. If he doesn’t have good communication with her, he is not going to be able to talk to you. If he speaks bad about his ex or his mother there is something off, a good man would never do that. And to never combine finances.
Have you always had confidence in yourself?
No, of course not. This is something that I work hard on every day. I try not to base my confidence on things that don’t really matter, like my appearance and what I accomplish in life. I try to base my confidence in stronger things like how I behave, how I treat others and the quality of my feelings and thoughts.
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
I love NYC, I love diversity, I hate being the person that brings the diversity to the room, and in NYC I am one of many, and that is a very freeing feeling.
What do you love most about yourself?
I like how good at my job I am, and the way I think and solve problems. You can drop me anywhere in the world and I can find my way back and not only that, I will probably figure out a way to make money in the process. I also love how I love – I am so intense, you never forgive me.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
I am a Mexican women with a thick accent that writes content in a second language – so yes, every day. But that is not a bad thing. I am better for it.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned along the way?
Her dream is not your dream. My dream is not your dream. Learn to listen to your higher self. Learn to follow the whispers that will direct you to your true path. Not everybody is meant to have a podcast, or go back to school, or have a YouTube channel, or have a cool Instagram, sometimes you are meant for other bigger things. And if you do it because she is doing it it, it will simply not going to work. GET INTO MEDITATING, get into talking to God now so you can hear your true path easier.
What motivates you most?
Getting things done, checking things off my list and spas. LOL!
How do you manage your work-life balance?
I don’t, and I don’t want to. I love my job and I love what I do so if I want to work while on vacation in Rome it’s okay and I am better for it. I am not super intense at it either, I am Mexican and I have an internal clock that all Mexicans have, we know when and how to have fun and we truly go at it when we can.
What is your favorite meal?
I like to drink eat all the good things this life has to offer. I like Indian food, Japanese, Peruvian, I obviously like Mexican, like tacos, pasta, wine, gelato, I like all the food. For my last meal I want cacio e pepe from Roma Sparita in Rome and I want have what I have for my last birthday dinner (We were in Rome and my boyfriend’s mother made an amazing meal – I can cry just thinking about it).
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I finish what I say I am going to finish and treat my body with the respect that it deserves.
Do you have a mentor? If so, what did they teach you?
Not officially. But I do. I don’t call them mentors.
What is one thing people would be surprised to hear about you?
How crazy a messy house makes me feel. I am actually embarrassed about it. I don’t judge other’s I am just talking about mine. But my mom is the same way, so I learned it from her. We just like a very neat home.
Did you always know what you wanted to do as a career?
No, I am still figuring it out, I love that about this life that I get to live, there is so much mystery.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you be doing?
A professional traveler or work in the concentration camps translating or doing whatever I could.
What is something on your bucket list?
I want to directly help 100 people.
Who is your biggest role model? Why?
I look up to so many people for business and their career trajectory. Also, my friends are usually my role models, they are so freaking successful, but for how I should carry myself in life, my grandma. She is amazing.
Where do you find inspiration?
In coffee. LOL! I find inspiration in music. I love musicals and concerts.
What are your biggest passions?
Children. I freaking love all children, I was a preschool teacher assistant many moons ago and I still think about those little babies. I love them all so much, and this is why I make sure my personal social media has a good message, they are watching and they need good role models.
