Introduce yourself! Who are you?
Hello, friends! My name is Danielle Cosgrove and I am from Atlanta, GA. I am a wife, dog mama, singer/songwriter, blogger, handletterer, & artist.
What is one thing no one really knows about you?
I love hip hop dancing. Whether I’m even the slightest bit good at it is a different matter, but it’s one of the most fun things I’ve ever done and hope to be a pro at someday!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Step outside of the little box of limitations you thought your life would be.”
What would you say to 16 year old you?
Be comfortable in your own skin and proud of who God created you to be. And don’t let people take advantage of you.
What’s your dream job?
Pursuing music with my husband!
What message do you think every woman should hear?
That you are dearly loved and paid attention to by God. He sees such beauty and purpose in you!
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
Nature. The humongous trees and endless hills in GA are absolutely breathtaking.
What do you love most about yourself?
That I am bold, humble and passionate.
Do you remember a specific time you overcame adversity?
When I was in high school my parents separated and were on the path to divorce. This was after many painful years of struggles in their relationship and for our whole family. There didn’t seem to be a single glimmer of hope that they would ever reconcile and that was such a terrifying, crippling thought. This, in many different forms, took its’ toll on me, changing my perspective on life and my future and I dealt with more fear and anxiety over the years than I would have ever imagined. But in the midst of such a dark season, God was my faithful, steady source of strength and comfort. He gave me hope that he would bring restoration to my parents’ marriage and healing to my family again. He also showed me during those times that I was truly able to rise above adversity and live my life fully and happily, regardless of the difficult circumstances. I was able to make it through the heaviest of days and to move forward with a positive outlook on life, because of the hope and peace He gave me in the midst of everything that was happening. And after 7 long years of separation, God eventually brought my parents back together again and they started the journey of reconciliation, forgiveness and healing. Last Christmas they renewed their vows to one another, which was such a surreal moment for me. What could have very easily destroyed me, and all of us, we were able to fight through by the grace of God, and now we are living and enjoying life together as a family again. Definitely one of the biggest forms of adversity I’ve faced, but also such a beautiful, growing, life changing season for me.
What motivates you most?
I feel the most motivated when I know that I am doing something backed by purpose and that will bring encouragement to others. It’s such a fulfilling thing to know that you’ve impacted someone in a really positive way.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I am always striving to stretch myself and to be unafraid to try new things. On a regular basis, I really try to develop more in the areas of life I am most interested and passionate about. Whether that’s writing a new song, baking something unique in my kitchen, practicing different fonts with my hand lettering, painting abstracts, or just simply being aware of where I’m at in life and the steps I actively need to be taking to pursue what I want most. Staying creative and fighting for creativity is so important when it comes to growth, but there are also times where it’s important to rest, regroup and refocus ourselves, which in its own way, also produces growth.
If you weren’t blogging, what would you be doing?
Hanging out with my hubby and our fluffy pup, baking in my kitchen, flipping through the latest Magnolia Journal issue or scouring Pinterest, painting or lettering, decorating the house or watching a favorite show (Most likely Great British Bake Off, Parenthood, or Gilmore Girls).
What is something on your bucket list?
I would LOVE to travel to Europe someday. A Euro Cruise would be even better. But Italy and Ireland are two places in particular I’m just dying to visit.
What are your biggest passions?
Music is what I am most passionate about and what I hope to pursue with my life more than anything. But with all that I do, whether through music, art, blogging, songwriting, etc., I am passionate about encouraging and inspiring people, and above all else, pointing them to Jesus.
