My name is Kirsten Grove and I'm a design blogger, Interior Stylish and shop owner from Boise, Idaho. I also wrote a book in 2016, Simply Styling, which is all about styling your home and not overthinking any of it. I'm married to my soul mate, have two children, Ethan and Eden Jo, and one dog, Dak.
I love to sing and I've been singing since I was little. I come from a very musical family. In fact, two of my cousins and I put out a 5 song CD back in 2000. I thought for sure I'd be a rockstar by now! 😉
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don't go to bed angry! Take care of relational conflict within that day. No one is promised tomorrow.
What would you say to 16 year old you?
Girl, I know you, you're not perfect, but who is?? Our imperfections make us who we are. So embrace your God given talents, dreams and characteristics. You've got this!
What is your greatest fear?
Oh man. Well, heights scares the sizzle out of me! But failing people is pretty much first on that list.
What message do you think every woman should hear?
We can't do this life alone. We must value others and understand that community is powerful! Women are strong, but women can't do it solo. No one can! Honor each other, embrace the gifts around you and cheer each other on!
What is your favorite thing about where you live?
Boise is one of those cities that's been under the radar, until recently. It's a small city that is just becoming it's own and I love being apart of that! We have 4 seasons, and we're surrounded by beautiful country. I love my city.
What do you love most about yourself?
I am very adaptable and I can carry on a convo with just about anyone.
Many many times. My story goes all the way back to when I was 12 years of age, and after a few emergency surgeries, my ovaries were removed. Shortly after we found out that it was a mistake made by the doctor. After you hear that you are now barren, and that it was a huge mistake, you start questioning life and God. My young brain had a hard time wrapping itself around this devastation. But I kept my head up, and with God's help I continued to keep my head up! My kiddos, who are both adopted, are my greatest miracles and my greatest blessings! I look at them and could cry of happiness. And to think, if I had birthed children, I may not have adopted them. I can't even begin to process that.
What is the biggest thing you’ve learned along the way?
Patience. We are such a microwave society. We want everything now! But in all reality, if we got everything handed to us, we would be SO messed up and so ungrateful.
Why do you love to travel?
Food, food and more food. Ha! In all seriousness, it always gets me out of my little bubble and gives me a bigger perspective on life. And as a designer, I am always inspired by new cultures and communities.
How do you manage your work-life balance?
Do I?? I'm not sure if I do! Jk. It's hard, but at the end of the day, it's a must. I will do everything in power to be present with my children and not allow work to control me.
What do you do on a daily basis to grow and move forward?
I start everyday in prayer. From there, I look over my goals for the day and strategize how to accomplish them. My husband also is my constant voice of reason and encouragement, and vice versa.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you be doing?
Cultural studies has always intrigued me!
What is something on your bucket list?
Tokyo is number one on my bucket list right now!!
